New Series for 2022
Objects of Thought
Objects of Thought #2.
Acrylic on Canvas
30x40 inches
My last few series have been very "out there" but now I need to come back down. It is here and now, in the natural world which one lives and breathes and moves. By the use of earthy colors and landscape elements I approach the "groundedness" of life. And yet I retain abstact concepts.
Objects of Thought #3
Acrylic on Canvas
30x40 inches
The Objects on which I am thinking are not things in and of themselves, but thoughts as objects. Taking a thought and turning it over and examining it from all sides. Putting it down and then moving on to the next thought to be examined. Why use a landscape/abstract theme?
Objects of Thought #4

Landscapes are place holders for ideas and ideals. Much like thoughts. Landscapes can remind us of past experiences, future hopes and current situations. Abstract can serve a similar function. It is where our mind wanders as we examine the painting. What thoughts, as objects, are propelled to the forefront of our minds.
Art is reaching for something that is slightly beyond our grasp. It is life experiences combined with flowing colors and lines. Art should move us towards something greater or remind us of something beautiful. Art is experience.
